Daily Round Up – 19/01/2021 – Tian Schoeman
Bath Sign Cheetahs Fly Half Tian Schoeman
Bath Rugby have finally got their man, after completing an 18 month deal for Cheetahs Fly Half Tian Schoeman. The 29 year old South African has previously played for Bordeaux-Begles, in the Top 14 and Blue Bulls, in Super Rugby. Bath have long been in search of a new Fly Half and seem to possess the players in both the pack and out wide, to be a top side. Perhaps Schoeman can be the final piece of the puzzle. Their current first choice Fly Half Is Rhys Priestland and the Wales pivot’s form, may have earned him a shock recall for the coming Six Nations. However, Priestland has already left Bath Rugby once before and his future may lie elsewhere. Bath also possess Josh Matavesi, who can play at Fly Half and have talented youngster Orlando Bailey on their books. Schoeman could be the perfect man to lead them forward, while Bailey works on reaching his potential.
Bath Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper:
“Tian brings a wealth of experience from his time in Super Rugby and also in the PRO14. Of all the options considered during our scouting and recruitment work, Tian showed to have the attributes both as a person and a player to be a success here in the UK with Bath.”
